Oh Joy, Robert King Is Flapping His Lips

It was, as I had suspected, the Portland Police Association via its president, the infamous Robert King, which used (pdf) the argument that the officers were “exhausted” and so needed to gang up on James Chasse.

Time, then, for a little rewind into the interesting mind of Robert King.

For instance, his wingnut assertion that the fear of having to fill out too many forms after an officer-involved death might confuse police officers too much when in a potentially-dangerous situation.

For instance, his related wingnut assertion that a fear of intense public scrutiny of their actions might confuse police officers too much when in a potentially-dangerous situation.

(You’ll note that each of these arguments in essence translates to King oddly saying that the officers he represents are too easily addle-brained to be able to do their jobs properly. That aproach is echoed, at least slightly, in this statement today on the Chasse incident.)

For instance, his wingnut newspaper commentary which by all appearances tried to intentionally confuse readers as to the incidents in the James Jahar Perez shooting.

Now we get to listen to him some more, it seems.

Full disclosure: In all of the time I spent publishing Portland Communique, Robert King was the only person around whom I would feel ill with distaste. The above might give a small glimpse into the reasons.
