Tomorrow’s Paper To Report On Chasse Grand Jurors
“I felt everything the police did followed their protocol,” grand juror Jeremy Waggoner will be quoted as saying in tomorrow’s Theo, according to KGW. “Their actions were all a reaction to Chasse’s actions.”
Apparently the paper tomorrow will have a story on three of the grand jurors in the Chasse case, and will report that while (in KGW’s words) “there were inconsistencies in witness accounts”, most witnesses agreed that officers tackled Chasse and at least one of them fell on top of him.
But, according to KGW, the paper will report that jurors believe the officers followed their training.
No word from KGW on whether or not Theo asked the jurors how that squares with Sergeant Kyle Nice’s statements that Officer Christopher Humphreys used a “straight bear hug-type tackle” which the Portland Police Bureau no longer teaches its officers to utilize — an action which tends to suggest following neither protocol nor training.
