Spammers Have Set-Up Men?
Just encountered something I’d not previously had the pleasure of encountering. On the discussion boards for PDX Browncoats, a newly-registered user posted their first comment to General Discussion. No, that’s not the newly-encountered pleasure.
Their post asked for pointers to marketing and promotion software. It was pretty obvious from the start that it was the set-up for a spammer to come in and respond with one or more links. The presence of the set-up man would give it the appearance of a legitimate question and answer.
Needless to say, I immediately deleted both the user and the thread without any warning. But prior to this, I’d never before even seen that approach.
