Twenty-Eight Years Later
Over at Talking Points Memo, a reader points out the distressing possibility. In the event of a (Saints preserve us) Hillary victory in 2008, the stage is set for the United States having been ruled by either a Bush or a Clinton for twenty-eight years. Twenty-eight years! Truthfully, we have no more need for dynasties than we do for monarchs. Wake me when the Edwards/Obama ticket is ready.

Can’t we do better than Edwards? I mean Dems are gonna get a free swing come 2008 as not even the Risen Christ will be able to get elected as a Republican. Why not go for the fences? Personally I like Obama/Gore, but Al’s still a little nuclear. So how about Obama/Schweitzer?

After GulfWar I they said the same thing about PapaBush, he could not loose he was a sure shot it was a done deal. It was an open question who the Dems would offer up for slaughter. Funny thing about sure things…they often are not. The economy turned and the vote took another path.
So when I hear things like “free swing come 2008″ I can not but be reminded of the recent failures of the Dems to create a presidential stump to stand on. Now sure you can say it was vote fraud or a fanatical right wing bumrush, even so I think the Dems need to take 2008 more seriously than they have ever taken a presidential run.

*Sigh*
You’re right, of course.
President McCain would be so depressing…

Obama can’t win. The U.S. isn’t ready to vote for a black president. Gore needs to stay home, else all the GOP has to do is say “You rejected him already”.

The U.S. isn’t ready to vote for a black president.
They’re just not ready to vote for this guy.
You’re also right about Gore.
Can’t I spend a couple of months dreaming before I have to sell my soul?

If you stick to the two party system you have but two choices….take it or leave it. The last couple of presidential elections are a nice example of that. In the end the Dems and the Repubs will trounce out their version of New Coke and Pepsi One and the taste test will commence. Of course if you like tea you are going to feel a bit wanting.
