Earlier this month, I first called the Mayor Major a fucking hypocrite. After spending months trying to tie together the cost overruns of the tram and Portland’s commission form of government, he had the gall to announce that he didn’t want the tram to “become a question of whether the form of government was to blame”. If we was a fucking hypocrite then, what is he after today’s email from Citizens to Reform City Hall Team Potter?

Why can a few carefully-selected United States Attorneys? All because Bush’s Brain wanted prosecutions against Democrats for voter fraud that didn’t exist — outside of Brain’s perverse need to use the full force of Federal law to control the nation’s “fair and free” elections.

My friend Shannon (who also is training to climb Mt. Whitney, the highest mountain in the lower 48) needs just a bit more to reach her fundraising goal for Bay Area Wilderness Training to give inner city children the chance to experience wilderness first hand. “Bay Area Wilderness Training has served more than 4,700 youth since 1999 and has a unique model and method for achieving its mission,” she tells me. “BAWT trains adults in wilderness skills. Then they safely take youth out on multi-day hiking, camping and backpacking trips with gear loaned free of charge.” So, now’s the time to go give, because I told you to.

So, of course, the Buffy Sing-A-Long has managed to book itself into Portland on the very same dates as our charity Serenity screenings. And, of course, at the venue we used last year. Considering how much the sing-a-long thing annoys me already, this might not have been the best move on their part.

“This has all happened before, and it will all happen again.” It was one of the earliest things a Cylon ever said in the current incarnation of Battlestar Galactica, and somehow it was meant to have bearing on what the Cylons considered to be God’s plan for everyone, a plan in which the Cylons believe they are playing a critical role. What follows from here should be considered spoilers, as I’m about to speculate in the aftermath of Sunday’s finale.

I’m experiencing this nearly-overwhelming urge to write “There Must Be Some Kind Of Way Out Of Here” in the daybook which sits upon the front counter at work. I won’t actually do so, of course. But, still, the urge is a nearly-overwhelming one.

Happenstantially found via Google is this item which helpfully informs that “Part-time biology teacher Kris Helphinstine” anagrams into this: “I lie, share creation myth, get pink slip. Bother!”

Coming soon, according to Blogtown, are the results of two evaluations of the lackluster, ad-driven, Microsoft-partnered municipal wifi network from MetroFi — one from a company out of Boulder and one from local community wifi activists.

According to McClatchy Newspapers, Monica Goodling, who will plead the Fifth before Congress, “received her law degree at Regent University in Virginia Beach, Va. Regent, founded by Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson, says its mission is ‘to produce Christian leaders who will make a difference, who will change the world.’”

It suddenly dawned on me today that one of the reasons I hate the current incarnation of my job (which I keep trying to muddle my way through in the hopes that the light at the end of the tunnel isn’t, in fact, the proverbial misidentified train) is that there’s no longer any sense of accomplishment.
