Helphinstine Cited Holocaust Denier?
Oolon Colluphid of Lawrence, Kansas (a place no stranger to the creationism controversy), helpfully points out that Kris Helphinstine’s PowerPoint presentations, previously available only under Internet Explorer, now are available in pdf form (scroll down to the left-hand sidebar) thanks to The Bulletin out of Bend. Bonus points to Colluphid for tracking down the apparent source of one of the footnotes Helphinstine included in his presentations — an infamous Holocaust denier and purveyor of Zionist and Freemasonic conspiracy theories.
Addendum: Just to be very deliberate and clear, what happened here was that Colluphid searched for the quote offered up on Slide 20 of the presentation on human history. What he came up with, technically, was that the quote was from a Science et Vie article by one Isabelle Bourdial. But it’s the footnote number on the slide which is the giveaway as to what Helphinstine did here.
At issue isn’t the quote itself, but the fact that the presence of the mysterious footnote number on the slide reveals that Helphinstine himself didn’t get the quote from the Science et Vie article.
Instead, he yanked it wholesale from the website about the beliefs of the aforementioned Holocaust denier and conspiracy theorist, neglecting to remove the footnote number from the end of the quote as used on that website.
Demonstrating, obviously, that Helphinstine deliberately was cruising creationist websites in order to pull out material for his presentations.
