Another Flashing Chance At Bliss

Curt Schitting

This is the fabled Big Game pitcher that so many apologists in Red Sox Nation still proclaim and defend? If not for Schilling, this game would have ended in the 9th, with the Red Sox on top. Instead, it ends with Cleveland winning 13-6 in 11 innings. Because the two runners allowed by Eric Gag Me then came around to score, even though by then he had been pulled and Javier Lopez was on the mound instead. And then, well, other stuff happened, like a third run scoring without Lopez managing to actually retire anyone. And then Jon Lester, the last pitcher we had left in the bullpen, gave up, well, still more runs. But mainly, it’s because of Schilling. Because if not for him, we never would have been in the 11th inning to begin with. Stick a fork in him, he’s done.
