Old FURIOUS nads! by The One True b!X

So the director of the “Independent” Police Review slammed in a new report for pretty much never bothering to do anything of an actual independent nature to look into allegations of police misconduct? You know, the one who left her job today on the same day the report was released? She’s taking a new one at the Police Bureau itself, “monitoring police conduct in a new Office of Professional Standards”. Read the first sentence above to understand why the Bureau itself might feel comfortable hiring her. Clearly a reward for a job the Bureau considers well done.

Forgot to point out that these four panels comprise one of the single greatest comic strips, online or off, ever written.

As we head into the depths of Winter and the comings days of highs in the low thirties, one thing will get me through: As of today, we are just under twenty-seven days until pitchers and catchers report to spring training.

Having finally watched the entire nine minutes and thirty-six seconds of the already infamous video of Tom Cruise discussing Scientology (produced as part of the cult awarding him their Medal of Valor), it’s clear that it is (and he is) even more crazed than the highlight clips suggest — even if you dismiss the hugely bizarre voice of the narrator and the unnervingly “important” music.

All things considered, this pretty much sums it up: “I think Hillary Clinton is saying the Republicans and Bush need to be out and Democrats need to be in. I think John Edwards is saying the special interests and the lobbyists need to be out and the people need to be in, in the populist way. And I think that Barack Obama is saying that he needs to be in because he can transcend the differences across the political divide right now.”

After a day’s delay due to tweaking my back when trying to lift a storage bin on Friday, I am now at the point where the ten bins and several boxes in the other room have been reduced to two. Everything else has been taken down to the trash. That doesn’t count all the books found along the way which are being stowed until the day when I actually have something other than a single small bookshelf.

Following along in the spirit of the cruft-free life and the joys of trash, this post serves as notice that, in addition to everything else, I’m starting to consider putting this site on indefinite hiatus.

United Hollywood mentions a new petition put together by Firedoglake regarding Comedy Central, The Daily Show, and The Colbert Report. Unfortunately, it’s so poorly written that it could easily be used by the cable network as evidence that its position, rather than that of the Writers Guild, has mass support.
