Five Years Too Long
Fan of inappropriate gallows humor that I am, I changed my nickname on IRC to “happyfifthanniversary”. Almost immediately, a college student elsewhere in the United States reacted with, “Fifth anniversary of what?” It took a chatter from Britain to properly identify what should have been the obvious answer to that question. If this doesn’t typify what it’s been like in America for the past five years when it comes to the Iraq War, I’m not sure what does.
