When Lungs Attack! (Part Three)
The other night, being woken out of a semi-sound sleep by a coughing fit became the experience of the convulsions of coughing transforming into the convulsions of vomiting, as if the spasms of the muscles involved in coughing rippled and resonated into setting off spasms in the muscles involved in throwing up.
Twice already tonight it’s almost happened again. I can’t lay down to go to sleep without setting off a coughing fit that will not stop until and unless I get up again. All of this despite the use of a cough suppressant.
Those of you out there who think they might want to quit smoking? Be absolutely sure. At this particular moment, denied the ability to go to bed and get to sleep, my only advice is to make sure you consider the torture of quitting to be a cost you’re willing to pay for the ultimate benefit.
I really need to sleep. And just how that’s ever actually going to happen escapes me completely.

I think it would be a good idea to get a chest X-ray, or at least let a doctor check you out. Don’t wait.
